Check back soon for the 2023 Featured Art Announcement!

Caya is a second generation Christmas Bazaar artist. She created the 2022 original art design and additional featured elements.

Tell us about yourself, your artistic background/career, where you are from and where you live now.

My name is Caya Crum and I was born and raised in Fort Worth Texas and I have been making art since before I can remember. Growing up, I always enjoyed the colorful shows and imaginative craftsmanship from people like Jim Henson, Hayao Miyazaki, Kate Bush, and David Bowie.

Describe your artistic style and what mediums you like to work with.

My work varies greatly from watercolor and acrylic paintings to murals and large scale art. Being from Texas has also inevitably had an impact of my art, with frequent references to Willie Nelson, Austin Dallas and Fort Worth landmarks, Dairy Queen, Whataburger, and fried eggs. My work leans toward the more colorful and pop art side with many bright yellows, reds and blues typically expressed using acrylic paint, latex paint, or watercolor. By using these colors, my goal is to catch the viewers attention and spark their imagination to inspire them to go out and make their own creative marks on the world.

What was your favorite part to create of the featured art piece?

My favorite part of creating this art piece was painting the armadillo that was later edited to create the sign. To honor the spirit of Armadillo I included several motifs to pay homage to the show Texas roots.

Tell us about your history with the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar.

Because my parents have been a part of the show for nearly a decade and a half, I have had the opportunity to enjoy Christmas with the Armadillo family each year. From the live music to the amazing food and vendors, the Christmas Bazaar is something I look forward to every holiday season and encourage others to come visit to enjoy the amazing entertainment it has to offer.

What are some of your favorite projects you’ve worked on?

Of the projects I have worked on, my favorites include my Massey’s Rainbow installation, The Welman Project murals, and the opportunity to continuously create and sell art year-round via instagram.
